NOTE: During install you are asked if you want to make Firefox your "default" browser. Keep Internet Explorer as your default browser. This is a must!
NOTE: You also will be asked if you want to import your "favorites" from Internet Explorer. You should do that when asked.
After install there are some settings that are necessary. Lets take them one screen at a time. First, bring up Firefox without going online, be sure your NOT online. Then, at the top of Firefox you see "Tools", click on it. Next, hilite and click on "Options" and you will see the screen below. In the upper left you will see an icon named "Main", if its not already hilited in light blue click on it. if its already blue then your ready to continue.
(When you go online be sure the "Home Page" is yours. You can select what your viewing by clicking the "Use Current Page" button, or you can browse and use a "Bookmarked" page).
NOTE: If your using dialup, you can click the "Use Blank Page" button. (loades quicker)
#1. Startup: You can set this up as you want. just go to a page you want as a home page and click on 'Use Current Page'.
#2. Downloads: This is where you setup how you want downloads handled by Firefox. Set it up as you like.
#3. System Defaults: DO NOT check this box unless you want to be asked if you want Firefox to be your default browser each time you bring up Firefox. Internet Explorer is the ONLY default browser you should have.

Click on the "Tabs" icon at the top.
I dont use tabbed browsing so this is the way i have mine set up but the choice is really yours.

#1. Click on the "Content" icon.
These are my settings but its up to you. These are 'secure' settings because i use 'Noscript' w/Firefox. (See 'Noscript' in the 'This and That' section on my home page).

Click on the "Feeds" icon next.
I dont use RSS feed so i have left the settings as 'Default'.

Click on the "Privacy" icon next.
Again, these are my settings for security purposes which i recommend but you can set it up as you like.

Click on the 'Security' icon.
My settings for security which i recommend but you can set it up as you want.

Click on the "General" tab and you will see the screen below.
I like 'Autoscrolling' myself but i dont like 'Check my spelling as i type'.

Next, click on the "Network" tab at the top. you will see the screen below.
I use 15 mb of space for my cache.

Next click on the "Update" tab and you will see the screen below. These settings i recommend but if your on DSL/Cable you can use 'auto update'. If your on dialup it would slow down your connection if Firefox is updating while your crusing the net.

Click on the "Encryption" tab and you see the screen below.
These are the default settings and leave them set that way.
When all settings are set, click 'ok' and your set to enjoy Firefox.
