Registry Mechanic

NOTE: Screenshots were taken on XP running Windows Modified Theme, "Windows Classic". (Looks like 98)




Figure 1 (NOTE: The free version of Registry Mechanic will not update)
(NOTE: This setup applies to the Free fully functional for life version and paid versions).
#1. When you have registered your copy of Registry Mechanic, click on 'Live Update' and update Registry Mechanic.
#2. Click the 'Options' tab and setup the options as in Fig 2.
#3. Click the 'Set Optimization' button. (Leave this setting alone after you click it the first time).
#4. Click the 'Scan You Registry' button and the screen in Fig.3 will come up.
#5. Now you find yourself at this screen again. Click the 'Compact Registry' button and the screen in Fig.6 will appear.

This should be blue in color (#1). If not click it.
Be sure to check the box next to 'Create a System Restore Point before repair' (#2).
Once done, click the 'Save' button (#3).

Scan Your Registry screen. (Fig.3)
On the Registry Mechanic main screen (Fig.1) click the 'Scan Your Registry' button. (#4 in Fig.1)
Sit back, relax and let Registry Mechanic work and dont worry if in the end it finds many problems. I have seen a few hundred on the first scan!

When Registry Mechanic is finished scanning your registry, you will see this screen. (Fig.4)
This screen tells you how many problems and if you want you can change the corrections or just uncheck what you dont want to fix.

Click the 'Repair' button (#4 Fig 4)and this screen will come up. then click the 'Continue' button.(Fig.5)

Now your back to the Fig.1 screen. Click the 'Compact Registry' button (#5 Fig 1) and this screen will come up (Fig.6).
This screen shows you that Registry Mechanic is 'Creating a Restore Point' that you can go back to if any problems arise. (Ive never had to go back to a restore point).
Another screen will come up and tell you what percentage of your registry is scanned using a progress bar.

When Registry Mechanic has compacted your registry this screen will come up. (Fig.7)
#1. Here it will tell you how much space is wasted.
#2. The percentage you can save by finishing the compaction.
#3. Click the 'Compact Now" button.

This screen will come up next. (Fig.8)
#1. Here make sure that 'Create System Restore Point' is checked!
#2. Click 'Yes'.
At this point your computer will reboot and your done.
